Nice Cabernet, particularly for this price. It has a nose of blackberry and currant. It has a nice rich purple hue. The tannins are on the gentle side. The wine has a very nice finish.

Deep garnet black in the glass, slow legs. Nice black cherry nose. Heavy in the mouth, chocalate covered berries, acidic tail. Great cab for the price, especially 50% at World Market.

Moon Mountain Vineyard is located high on the Sonoma Valley side of Mount Veeder, at nearly the 2,000-foot elevation. Originally part of the Carmenet Estate that produced award winning Cabs in the 80's and 90's, Moon Mountain was spun-off as its own winery with a 75 acre organic estate vineyard. The grapes for this ’06 Cab are sourced from there as well as vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petite Verdot, fermented in small tanks for maximum skin contact. The wine was aged 18 months in French and American oak barrels and shows ripe cassis flavors along with minerals, anise and smoke. On Sale!!
