Montoya Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006
quite acidic - buy now to drink in a year or two
I though this was a great wine. especially for the price. the vanilla finish is great
Maybe I'm in left field here, but I found this to be a very nice wine, especially for the price point. I mean, we're not talking Caymus here...this is a $12 everyday wine that has a very smooth finish.

2007 was a spectacular vintage for Cabernet in Napa Valley, and it's evident even in this well-priced favorite. Ripe boysenberry and creme de cassis flavors are at the forefront, while accents of cedar and spice dance across the palate. Fine tannins support all this flavor and give the wine structure to pair with a nice thick steak.
Napa Valley characteristics show through with strawberries, raspberries, dark cherries and a faint note of licorice and mint. On the palate, sweet vanilla is brought forth by the nuances of oak aging. The tannins are firm, but not chalky, adding body and finesse. Pair this wine with garlic crusted lamb chops.
Well-integrated oak flavors complement the dense blackberry and raspberry fruit in this delicious Cabernet. An unbelievable value in Napa Cabernet at this price.
An excellent value from Napa Valley. Hints of dusty mocha round out the blackberry fruits in this delicious, full-bodied red. Wonderful by itself, or pair with braised beef or juicy rib-eye steak.
Soft and well-balanced, this scored consistently well in our blind tasting for its notes of dark cherry, raspberry, cedar, and mint. A juicy, unpretentious pour.
Montoya has produced a great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, from the dark red color to its sharp, full nose, all the way through to a complex and rewarding finish. Aged in American and French oak, the feel is smooth and spicy with hints of black pepper, dense fruit layers, and herbal notes on the finish. Perfect for pairing with grilled meats and hearty pasta.
