Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Quatro - A Best Value, Parker's Wine Bargains/ A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carmenere, and Syrah, Quatro has a complex bouquet of cedar, spice box, black currant, blackberry, and a hint of blueberry in the background. This is followed by a layered wine with good depth and concentration with enough structure to evolve.

Quatro 2007 - 5 Stars, Restaurant Wine/ Amazing value! Quatro is a four-varietal blend, and a terrific value. It is fleshy and extremely well-balanced, with full body, rich flavors, and a long, harmonious finish. It tastes of black licorice, black currant, toast and spicy oak.

/ Priced just above the Best Buy level, Quatro is still a great value. MontGras brings Cabernet, Malbec, Carmenere and Syrah together in a well-meshed way. The wine is big and full of blackberry fruit. It has some woody characteristics, but mostly it's harmonious as it builds to a nice finish of mocha and fine tannins.

Quatro 2007 - 89+ Points, eRobertParker.com/ The 2007 Quatro is a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Malbec, 25% Carmenere and 15% Syrah. Purple-colored, it has a complex bouquet of cedar spice box, black currant, blackberry and a hint of blueberry in the background. This is followed by a layered wine with good depth and concentration with enough structure to evolved for 1-2 years. Drink this excellent value from 2009 to 2015.

Quatro 2009 - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast/ Sweet and smoky on the nose, with prune, hickory and spice aromas that come together well. The palate on this four-grape blend is saturated and meaty, while the flavors of blackberry, coffee and dark plum are lush and finish with toast and spice. Always one of Chile’s best values; an overperformeryear after year.

Quatro 2005 - 91 Points, Wine Enthusiast/ In every vintage this blend of Cabernet, Malbec, merlot and Carmenere gets a little better, and the 2005 is the best yet. It’s a ripe one for sure, with licorice, kirsch and earthy warmth on the nose. The body is big and the wine tastes of berry jam, licorice, and chocolate. Balanced and long, with bitter espresso on the finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

The beautifully neat vineyards of MontGras, in the locality of Palmilla, Colchagua, VI Region of Chile, represent the concrete testimony of the development and the desire to do things right that have always characterized the Gras brothers, Hernán and Eduardo, along with partner Cristián Hartwig. This wine is brilliant red with hints of bay leaf, herbs and spicy blackcurrants on the nose, typically Chilean in style. The palate offers blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry, soft tannins with lingering spicy fruit and a firm finish.
