Montgras Chardonnay Colchagua Valley Reserva 2010

External Review by Palm Bay International:

/ Snappy and nice, with a touch of mineral. Otherwise it's all about ripe apple and pear up front and citrus on the back palate and finish. Zesty and clean, with the mildest amount of honeyed sweetness.

Premium Wines Crafted With a Personal Touch The beautifully neat vineyards of MontGras, in the locality of Palmilla, Colchagua, VI Region of Chile, represent the concrete testimony of the development and the desire to do things right that have always characterized the Gras brothers, Hernán and Eduardo, along with partner Cristián Hartwig. Inspired by Hernán Gras, who has a brilliant winemaking trajectory in Canada, along with the entrepreneurial vision of his brother Eduardo and Hartwig's pragmatic businesses view, who comes from a winemaking family and who in addition has strong bonds with Colchagua, joined together to give to life to Viña MontGras in 1993, the first project of MontGras Properties. MontGras, that has always had state-of-the-art technology in all its processes, set out from its conception to be the winery with the best premium wine from Chile. It is no accident then, the great amount of international prizes that have recognized the professional work, the constant quality and the innovation of MontGras wines. In this, like corporative culture, people have been key. As Hernán Gras, Chairman of the Board says, "our philosophy has to do with producing quality Chilean wines at exceptional value, which reflect the specific terroir from where the grape come from. Although we count on the equipment and the technology, it is definitively our people that make the difference. To create a wine is a true art in which all the senses are used." Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

/ Pleasant scents of green apple and bee pollen. Tingly flavors of just-sliced pear and honey. Sweet finish notable for its crispness.

Deep straw gold. Sweet aromas of pear and pineapple mingle with hints of vanilla. Richly structured, this elegant Chardonnay is well balanced and concludes with a creamy, lingering finish.

/ A softly textured, full bodied wine, with moderate richness, some complexity, & a medium long finish, tasting of pineapple, roasted nut, lemon peel, & apple. Great value.

/ Light yellow. Smoky peach and melon aromas are clean and incisive. Vaguely sweet melon and pit fruit flavors are gently supported by tangy citrus zest, finishing with good sappy length. I like the lack of oakiness here.

Chardonnay 2009 - 88 points, International Wine Cellar/ Light gold. Shy aromas of nectarine and nutmeg are complicated by a leesy element. Juicy and fine-grained, with a silky texture to the pitfruit spice flavors. A very nicely balanced but reticent chardonnay with well integrated acidity and a dry, nervy finish.
