Montevina Terra d'Oro Forte 2005

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

very fruity nose, woodsy, balsamic, church candle/incense, sandy soil, strawberry and a touch of roses, a touch sweet fruity right up front then decidedly medium bodied with lots of strawberry and red currant fruit, not particularly complex but friendly, with some clay earth tones on the palate leading to the fairly long bright finish with tannins that are just a hint astringent but in a cleansing way, long fruity finish 89pts

Again, Gregg says it best - this is delicious - buying more for certain - love their Zinfandel as well.

Extremely smooth blend with a great finish! A must keep for your cellar!

Montevina 2005 Terra d'Oro Forte is an exemplar of the beauty and balance blending can bring to a wine. Both the Sangiovese and Cabernet legs of the wine showed rich distinctive aromas and flavors distinctive to the respective varietals. However, the smooth tannin, silky mouthfeel, and lingering finish were achieved by careful blending. A sophisticated palate is dominated with cherries, apple, and rhubarb. The fruit is spiced with nutmeg, dried orange peel and vanilla
