What to Expect

Barbera is one of the classic Grapes of Italy's Piedmont region, though it is popular throughout much of Northwest Italy and has gained a following in California. Searing acidity has been a trait of Barbera though modern viticultural techniques and warmer regions have tamed the acidity, resulting in medium-bodied wines with bright, red fruit tones that feature hints of violets, earth and plum with just a whisper of tannin.

From an underrated varietal, Montevina makes one of the best. Pretty berry and plum aromas with a distinctive dark-chocolate note. Soft tannins and Barbera's characteristic high acidity.
