- Deep purple. Complex nose melds blackcurrant, blueberry, vanilla, caramel and chocolate as well. Deep flavors of ripe berry fruits complemented by oak that adds sweetness and spice without intruding. Seamless, elegant and impeccably balanced. Finishes long and stylish, with finely spun tannins. Along with the 1993 and 1995, among the best Montevetrano vintages to date, though I have a certain weakness for the 1992 as well, excellent for so difficult a vintage.
