Montes Sauvignon Blanc Leyda Vineyard 2007
This Sauvignon Blanc is a clear, crisp and fruity wine with light yellow-green color, bright and transparent. It is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the Leyda Valley. After fermentation is applied a cold stabilization and then bottling. There is no oak ageing in this wine in order to maintain the freshness and crispiness of the fruit. The nose holds peaches, pineapples and other tropical fruits with citric hints. These are held together with a nice minerality, which makes this wine a fresh and appealing one. The aroma shows its power and super Sauvignon Blanc character, and also shows the full potential of its cold zone origin, with morning fogs, low temperatures and long hanging period.
Lightly herbal on the nose, very crisp and refreshing. A pretty tasty wine. Not screaming grassiness, but enough herbaceous-ness to be varietally true. The bottle had a trio of medals on it: International Winery of the year 2002 (W&S); 2002 Wine Personality of the year (Aurelio Montes - selected by the Chilean Agricultural Society) and New World Winery of the Year 2002 (WE).
