Our 1997 Monterra Merlot is deep cherry red in color, exhibiting aromas of soft oak, chocolate, and berry. The cool morning fog and the Pacific Ocean's moderating influence, helped to prolong the growing season, and thus the hang time of the clusters. This extended period of ripening gives the 1997 Merlot its intense flavors of cherries and blackberries. Keeping numerous vineyard blocks separate throughout the oak aging process, has allowed each wine to develop to its full potential.
