The diverse microclimate of the San Bernabe Vineyard coupled with the longer than usual 1998 growing season created a wine with intense Chardonnay varietal character. Our blend of several individual blocks of Chardonnay displays the green apple and pear aromas San Bernabe is noted for. Crisp tropical fruit flavors are balanced nicely with creamy butterscotch. Barrel aging added the textural element of a rounded mouth-feel, which leads to a crisp and clean finish. -Tom Smith, Winemaker
