External Reviews for Monterey Pinot Noir Poppy
Tasting Notes - One of the most affordable and downright delightful every day drinking Pinots we've had the luxury of coming across. This Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from throughout the Monterey County region, and in it you ll find great berry flavors on the nose and palate as well as a little oak and notes of spice. Balance and acidity are also not lacking in this Patio Wine.
The 2008 growing season was warm in mid season but cool late in the year, when the grapes are most vulnerable. This vintage displays more dark fruit character than usual and has a more resilient mid palate because of its well balanced acidity. Pair with dishes that like the accent of a spicy and fruit forward wine – possibly a slow roasted lamb shank seasoned with rosemary and orange zest.
