Montepeloso Nardo 2004

Member Review by Vinfolio:

The "Nardo" from Montepeloso defines the basic premise that blends create a greater whole than just the sum of the parts. "Nardo", in Tuscan dialect, means "lavender." This wine is the standard for the Montepeloso stable and is a blend of approximately 70% Sangiovese, 20% Montepulciano and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a blend of traditional Toscana merged with a dollop of modern voluptuousness. A straightforward wine that offers a pervasive black cherry/red cherry combo akin to a Riserva Chianti crossed with the brooding, dark bramble fruit and black tea and cocoa elements that one would tend to find in a Cabernet blend. A wondrous candidate for aging or a couple of hours of decanting. Only 400 cases produced.
