85% sangiovese, 10% cabernet sauvignon, 5% Merlot Interestingly this is both dark and leathery as well as being spicy and bright on the nose with plenty of black currant and slightly jammy strawberry fruit. very focused on entry, with a whiff of oak accompanying the taut berry fruit. the tannins are very well managed here and the acid as well offering a mouthfeel that is precise and shows unusual cut for a wine for this price. Mineral and leather notes emerge on the backend along with some dried herb and fruit notes before this fades on the moderately long and nervous finish. The wood does become more prominent on the nose here but what really impresses with this wine is energy it retains and the nervous texture that one rarely finds at this price point. This remains a fabulous little wine that just lacks a bit of flavor intensity. 88pts
This is a 2009 Tuscan Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Savignon blend. It has a deep ruby hue with a mid to tight rim variation. Bold fruity notes of plum and black cherry with a slight hint of vanilia and coffee and balanced acidity. The time for this wine is now to 2016. Best served chilled to 56 degrees, and served with a veal parmigiana with pasta dish.
Italian blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is dry but not overly dry. There is medium body with few layers of complexity. The nose is jam and pepper with a palate of jam, plums, and peppers. I am barely able to say a medium finish. Not a bad wine for weekday Italian night.
This wine is wonderful! Nice fruity aroma, easy to drink, pairs well with many foods. One of my favorites!
Hosted our first Thanksgiving as a Wedded couple and served this wine in Jerabaum format. Alone, the wine is dry, but served with the variety of flavors of Thanksgiving, the Toscano pairs very well. An easy drinking wine with a pleasing non-discript structure, balancing the fantastic meal we prepared. The 3L bottle could have aged for quite a few more years to come.
What a lovely evening, nice and cool, clear skies and a beautiful sunset...it's just too bad I've been busy as all get out today! Work, then the gym for an hour, then I stopped to pick up a chicken burrito for dinner from the local Qdoba (see not every day is a gourmet feast!) and now I'd just like a nice glass of vino to relax before I start all over again tomorrow! So tonight I've decided to open a bottle of what I consider a very wonderful everyday wine. Not a spectacular, special occasion type wine, but a nice wine that comes at a price that doesn't have you filling out mortgage applications should you decide to have more than a bottle a week! Full, plush wine. Loads of berries, vanilla and soft tannins. Slight herbal quality. Very nice wine.

Deep ruby colour with garnet reflections, its elegant bouquet of leather, black cherries, liquorice and plums preludes a medium to full-bodied palate where ripe red fruit, subtle notes of vanilla and violets harmonize and linger, interlacing with the soft tannins and silky texture.
Candied cherry and strawberry notes mingle with tobacco and bitter almond flavors in this slim red. The tannins have grip. Drink now through 2017. 3,500 cases imported. -BS Monte Antico-a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon-is a great value choice that shows medium build in the mouth followed by bright notes of cherry and wild berry. The mouthfeel is smooth and spicy, but largely driven by simple, red fruit nuances.
Dark ruby in color, its bouquet of leather, earth, herbs, black cherries, licorice and plums is confirmed on the medium to full-bodied palate - round, spicy, elegant, attractively fruity.

A perpetual Best Buy and a frequent selection for the Top 100 lists, Monte Antico is a Tuscan gem that over delivers vintage after vintage. Made from a selection of Tuscany’s finest vineyard sites, a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot, Monte Antico is Neil & Maria Empson’s tribute to Tuscany. Importers of exceptional Italian wines for over thirty years the Empsons have grown a strong affinity with Italian wines and its terrior. Maestro Franco Bernabei does the honors as winemaker, selecting the best grape lots, fermenting slowly and then aging the finished wine 1 year in oak (80% in Slavonian, 20% French) and at least 6 months in the bottle to achieve a graceful balance of voluptuous berry tones and a soft forward style that’s ideal with food.
