User Reviews for Monte Antico Rosso
Add your reviewVery easy drinking, with a terrific nose. Nice fruit, but not jammy at all, with tannins to give it a pleasant bite. Kind of earthy with a bit of an herbal thing going on. I would probably pair this with a slightly sweet red sauce and pasta. Or maybe grilled lamb. Terrific QPR at $10 or so.
Great wine! Never fails me and goes well with most dishes. it is not a big dominating wine and you don't have to pour too much intellectuality into it. Its a faithful companion that never fails to deliver when just relaxing at home or with friends.
External Reviews for Monte Antico Rosso
Tuscany, ItalyMonte Antico Rosso Toscana is a beautiful Tuscan red wine made by maestro Franco Bernabei for importer Neil Empson. Meaning "ancient mountain" in Italian, this super Tuscan blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon has offered a unique combination of quality and value since its launch in 1977. The grapes come from vineyards ranging up to 1500 ft above sea level.Monte Antico is a beautiful dark ruby in color. Its bouquet of leather, earth, herbs, black cherries, licorice and plums is confirmed on the medium to full-bodied palate - round, spicy, elegant, attractively fruity and extremely versatile. The wine was aged for one year in French and Slavonian oak followed by 6 months in bottle. The finish is rich, long and polished.Enjoy Monte Antico over the next 3-5 years with veal, pasta, risotto, osso bucco, and aged cheeses.
From the hills of southern Tuscany comes this Sangiovese based red. Easy drinking for every day meals.
Dark ruby in color, its bouquet of leather, earth, herbs, black cherries, licorice and plums is confirmed on the medium to full-bodied palate - round, spicy, elegant, attractively fruity.
