What to Expect

Champagne is specifically a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France; every other sparkling is simply that, sparkling wine. Made to be aged for a few to many years, in many languages "Champagne" is synonymous with "party". When young, Champagne exhibits the fresh fruit tones of its "cepage", or blend. Usually based on a blend the features either Chardonnay or Pinot Noir as its main ingredient, Champagne's fruit can range from citrusy to orchard fruits and even red berries. The wine gains distinct yeasty notes from its secondary fermentation, the one that adds the fizz, which is typically described as recalling brioche or bread. As it ages Champagne tends to lose its obvious fruit, which is replaced by subtle nutty tones and subdued elements of dried fruits.

Plenty of mineral in the aroma, along with a tangy acidity in this dry-style ros?. The flavors pick up berry and spice notes as it develops on the palate. It's assertive, with good length. Drink now.

A meaty champagne with flavors of dried petals and red currants. A tart finish, with more of the meaty, fleshiness. An energetic, powerful house blend.

When first poured, the wine exhibits a rush of good, small bubbles creating a soft, true champagne-style effervescence. A nice straw-yellow color with an aroma of almonds, filberts and a touch of desiccated, toasted coconut flake. Flavors have good presence if not particularly subtle in tone. A decent, sound champagne.

The house style of Champagne at Montaudon is rich and toasty, with notes of almond and brioche toast, combined with crisp green apple and lime accents. Elegant yet energetic. Appearance: Fine colour with golden and straw reflections. A wealth of sparkleforming a long lasting mousse. Nose: Expressive note - scents of flowers and exotics fruits especially mango. Palate: Clean style defined by fresh fruit tastes. This fresh and harmoniousblend makes a good balance between strength and distinction.
