We expected this bottle to have forward fruit. In fact, it was very austere and minerally. It had just a hint of the characteristic cherry notes of the vineyard and was a very pleasant wine, accompanying the appetizers (lobster salad, shellfish risotto, oysters) without overpowering them. It’s possible it didn’t have enough time to breathe; we’ll try again in a year or two.

Very disappointing. It started off with a nice, but not great nose and had almost no flavor. It disappeared somewhere.

    Winemaker's Notes:

"This stunning blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc boasts a dense<br/>ruby/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of black cherries, licorice,<br/>roasted herbs, smoke, and cassis. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, pure flavors<br/>reveal moderately high tannin, but superb concentration and richness. Vieux<br/>Chateau Certan should be one of the longer-lived and most complex wines of the<br/>vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025."<br/><br/>(Robert Parker - www.erobertparker.com - 30-Jun-2007)
