Food Pairings for Mont Rochelle Reserve Sauvignon Blanc L
Lightly herbal on the nose, very crisp and refreshing. A pretty tasty wine. Not screaming grassiness, but enough herbaceous-ness to be varietally true. The bottle had a trio of medals on it: International Winery of the year 2002 (W&S); 2002 Wine Personality of the year (Aurelio Montes - selected by the Chilean Agricultural Society) and New World Winery of the Year 2002 (WE).
Was really curious over the great reviews for the Purple Angels, but after buying one myself, found it to be just good, not legendary... had all the must-haves for a Carmenere though... pretty decent
<Aroma> Dark Fruit, Oak <Mouth> Full, Sour, Dry
Asparagus on the nose. Flavors of lemon rind and lime zest in the front followed by veggies and a grassy flavor on the mid palate. Ending with grapefruits, citrus, and a hint of granny smith apples. definitely an excellent value wine.
With our anniversary dinner, I picked a bottle of this on a whim and what a fantastic pick. The bottle is thick and heavy, something you want to take home and use as a weapon. The wine was decanted for about 45 minutes, deep, dark, a velvety purple that seemed to be screaming for something white to stain forever. It was an epic bottle of wine - the last glass was unreal having decanted for almost 2 hours. The fruit was big but balanced with a really nice acidity leaving the palette after swallowing but filling your head with this experience of smell, taste, and memories of that great Cuban cigar, berries from the farm stand, box woods and oak, and somehow blue skies and summer grass. We bought a half case of 2007 and a half case of 2009 and look forward to enjoying this for a few years to come.

Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2010 - 88 points, Wine Advocate/ The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Reserva was fermented and aged in stainless steel. Notions of lemon and other citrus, cut grass, herbs, and stony minerals inform the nose of a spicy, vibrant, mouth-filling wine that is an excellent value...
Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2010 - 88 points, International Wine Cellar/ Greenish-straw. Precise, spice-accented nose of green apple, quince and white flowers, combined with an herbal aspect. Tactile and fine-grained, marked by zesty acidity giving definition to the dry flavors of lime, lemongrass and candied ginger. Fleshes out toward the back, finishing quite suave, with lingering notes of melon and lemon curd.
Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2009 - Sante/ Pale and almost colorless with aromas and flavors of fresh citrus and just a hint of green pepper. Approachable and friendly with very ripe citrus fruit offset by acidity and just a hint of herbaceousness on the straightforward finish.
Sauvignon Blanc Reserva - A Best Value, Parker's Wine Bargains/ The Sauvignon Blanc Reserva exhibits aromas of fresh herbs and citrus. Medium bodied, this straightforward Sauvignon offers grapefruit and lemon-lime flavors, bright acidity, and a clean, refreshing finish.
Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2008 - 88 Points, International Wine Cellar/ Light straw. Alluring aromas of orange, lime, Thai basil and talc, with a hint of wet stones. Brisk and tightly wound, offering zesty citrus flavors and a late jolt of white pepper. This would be great with fresh shellfish. Finishes clean, tangy and persistent.
From our "La Finca" Estate in the Apalta Valley (Santa Cruz D.O., a sub-denomination of Colchagua Valley). Aurelio evaluated releasing a full Carmenère wine, as we have pure Carmenère vines, but after many combinations decided that this blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Carmenère (specified as such in the main label) brought forward the best of both varieties. Aged in American oak and with only one soft filtering, it provides great value. With beautiful and intense ruby red color, it has a very elegant aroma with notes of chocolate, cigar box, coffee and also of vanilla and butterscotch. To the palate it is ample, full, of medium body, soft and generous, with a long aftertaste. Decanting is recommended for at least 30 minutes. It can be cellared for four years or enjoyed now. Denomination of Origin: Colchagua Valley.
