Moncontour Brut Cremant Rose NV

Winemaker's Notes:

The iconic structure of the renaissance Chateau Moncontour was built in the fifteenth century and lies in the very heart of the Vouvray appellation, high on a ridge above the Loire. The winery dug into the hillside is one of the oldest in the Loire Valley. Since being purchased in 1994 by Christian Feray this estate has been increasingly impressive and is now viewed as a reference of quality within this AOC. This is a high quality NV sparkling Vouvray produced in the Methode Traditionelle style, with second fermentation taking place within the bottle. The estate has vineyards in priviliged positions leading to high quality grapes, which are meticulously sorted before careful vinification. Wines are left to settle within cellars dug into the famous limestone, which ensure a constant ambient temprature. This is a produced in a modern style, with a fresh and racy character, apricot, ripe orchard fruits and lemon zest notes which are complemented by great minerality. A light, fragrant, elegant wine, excellent as an aperitif or would be wonderful with a seafood platter.

Château Moncontour:
This is one of the older and more prestigious Loire wine estates. The 15th century renaissance  chateau overlooks the Loire river near the village of Rochecorbon just east of Tours and the estate consists of 130 hectares spread over a number of parcels in the Vouvray area.They produce a selection of white,rose and sparkling wines.It is owned by the Feray family who also own other Loire wine estates.
