Moncaro Verde di Ca'Ruptae Verdicchio Marche Verdicchio Dei Castelli di Jesi 2007

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

From the finest growing area for Verdicchio in Italy, this classic white has a delicious hint of lime and a touch of mild hazelnut combined with just the right amount of acidity. It's one of the five best white wines I've tasted this year. This is a "wow-wow" wine in a food-friendly style that will improve any delicate seafood dish immensely. Substitute it for a crisp Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio for a real treat.

Bright and fresh, with medium-bodied flavors of pear, lemon and pineapple, this wine has lots of mineral character on its clean finish.

Moncaro's signature wine, and a staff favorite for a while now as a Pinot Grigio alternative. Bright and sunny, with lemon zest, kiwi and grapefruit flavors backed by crisp acidity and mineral undertones. Great wine for the table; pairs well with most chicken or fish dishes.

Straw-yellow in color, with a nose of stone fruits, green apples, citrus, almond, and mineral notes. Medium-full in body with bright acidity, this wine offers rich flavors of apricots, citrus, green apples, and almonds, with no oak. Extended lees contact has created richer flavors and complexity. Crisp and flavorful on the finish, it is beautifully balanced to enjoy over the next 4-5 years with steamed mussels, pasta with clams, broiled halibut, risotto, salade Niçoise or cheeses.

This 100% Verdicchio is fresh and fruity, with a snappy green acidity and zesty citrus. It's a natural for lighter fare like pasta salads and grilled vegetables.

A unique Verdicchio called Verde di Ca'Ruptae from Moncaro's best vineyards in the Castelli di Jesi region, where the grapes enjoy warm days and cool nights tempered by the Mediterranean Sea, just twenty kilometers to the east. Not your everyday Italian white, this one has attitude. Golden in color, and blessed with vibrant lemon custard, apricot and almond aromas and flavors that have a distinct mineral vein which emphasizes terroir. Extended lees contact gives the wine a buttery texture; no oak here, just honest, well balanced fruit. Chill the heck out of it to bring out the acids and enjoy with veggies, linguini with white clam sauce, tortellini with pesto, or crusty bread dipped in your favorite olive oil.
