Monbousquet Saint Emilion Gc Btls. Original Wooden Case 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

"A blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 possesses a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of espresso roast, damp earth, new oak, black cherries, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied with exceptional purity, surprising intensity, good texture, and sweet tannin in the finish, this unfiltered cuvee should drink well for 12-15 years." This once unheralded terroir continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of proprietors Chantal and Gerard Perse. A new drainage system throughout the vineyard has been installed, and... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Monbousquet 750ml

Gerard Perse's home estate also produces about 400 cases of a sensational dry white made from 65% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, and the rest Semillon and Muscadelle. This is a wine with an expansive Burgundian texture, lots of honeyed grapefruit, fig, lemon zest, and orange rind, smoky notes, and an undeniable minerality and focus. It should drink nicely for 5-6 years.

The 2006 promotion to Grand Cru Classé for this classic chateau was a definite recognition of its dedication to quality. With sandy/gravelly soil vineyarrds located some 500 meters on the southerly slopes of St.Émilion, the wines produced consistently display artful balance and graceful structure. Put together in the classic Bordelais way, with 18 to 24 months in new barrique then bottled without filtering. One finds a complex blend of espresso, freshly turned earth and vanilla mingling with the varietals' classic signature fruit notes. Exceptionally pure, but not austere, fine for now or 10 + years in the cellar. 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
