AUD$47. A blend of McLaren Vale fruit with Langhorne Creek. Aged in 80/20 American/French oak with 53% new. Intense inky black color. Intense aromas of blackcurrant, liquor vapours, mint, dark chocolate and a warm pan grille. Very over-powering for the end of the night. I really need my eye fillet steak with all the horse radish for this one! Full-bodied and full throttle joocey, robust berry jam flavours with baking spice, nutmeg, plenty of acid but that’s an afterthought. 15% alc. Surprisingly, even the tannins get overcome by the fruit weight. I raised the white flag after one glass. Some may love this style of wine, but I’m not in that bunch. But a well-made wine, no doubts about that. Drink 2015 – 2020. 92/100.

Great, rich cab fruit nose. Rich, powerful and concentrated. Palate is rich with ripe fruits. Mouth coating and rich. Really nice.

Lots of violets in the nose and on the palate, very floral. Nice polished texture and well concentrated. Pretty and elegant. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 4/3/10

Rated 90 - The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon The Maitre D'™ was raised in 50% new French and American oak for 11 months. Opaque purple-colored with legs that ooze down the glass, it displays a reticent bouquet that with coaxing reveals wood smoke, violets, black currant and blackberry. This is followed by a full-bodied wine with a glossy texture, succulent fruit, and excellent concentration. This pleasure bent effort can be enjoyed over the next 6-8 years. - Robert Parker

Distinctly Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Maitre D' has a firm structure but an amazing array of flavours. Rich, generous and complex the wine has the full spectrum of flavours going from cherry to plum to chocolate and finishing with mint and coffee. Dense fruit and fine tannins create intensity while the mouth-feel has a creaminess that adds to the texture and another level of sophistication to this great wine. I cannot remember a Mollydooker Maitre D' that has wowed me as much as the 2013. ~Matt~ - WineryCabernet has always been a favorite of mine, so it's no surprise that The Maitre D is the first bottle that I grab to share with friends over lunch or dinner. The Maitre D is a rich and complex wine that shows rich red berries and cassis. Layered between the berries is spice, vanilla and chocolate. You will also find a hint of mint that lingers on the pallet adding to the wines structure and balance, making it an outstanding wine. ~Anna~ - WineryAlc: 15.5%Residu...

About This WineDark cherry red, with a deep violet hue, this is an incredibly aromatic varietal Cabernet. Showing great intensity with bright berry fruits and mashed raspberry, together with licorice spice and espresso coffee. The palate is vibrant and fresh, building with layers of fruit, toasty oak and fine Cabernet tannins. It finishes with hints of anise spice, dark cocoa and cassis fruit. This wine is named after Sparky, who earned money to put himself through winemaking college as a left-handed Maitre D. The grapes were grown on the Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway, the Mollydooker vineyards in McLaren Vale and the Joppich vineyard in Langhorne Creek. Barrel fermented and matured in 80% American and 20% French oak using 55% new and 45% one year old barrels. Alc: 15.5% Residual sugar: 2.8g/L pH: 3.65 Pairs with chicken liver paté, duck, roast lamb, mushroom risotto, veal, quail and pork. - Winery ** Only 12 in Stock **
