Didn't really dig it this time. Big smoky nose. It's so big and dense, it lacks some finesse. Too intense. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 8/21/10 Read more

Soft and smooth. This is not your overextracted fruitbomb australian Shiraz. This is a subdued well-balanced artisan wine that was made with love and care. Some coffee and black fruit notes. ready to drink now or until 2011.

Mouth coating and long lasting cherry, pomegranate and spice flavors. Allergies got to me by this point and the nose stopped picking up the aromas. Dense but not heavy. Long lasting! - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 4/3/10

Wow, a novelty sort of wine, I guess. Over the top aromas of caramel and vanilla; a real mouthful of forward flavors continuing on the candy-bar theme; mild spicy finish.

Rated 91 - Wine Spectator Bright and jazzy, offering an effusive mouthful of cherry, pomegranate and spice flavors that are as aromatic as they are long and vivid. This has density without great weight, and the finish keeps on going. Drink now through 2015.

With aromas of blueberry, raspberry, violets, cedar and tobacco, it has a kaleidoscope of flavours that explode in your mouth with layers of blackberry, licorice, and spicy sweet fruit. Super-rich and opulent with a lingering finish of dark fruit and vanilla-oak.

Dark and dense. A big wine, yet lively with nutmeg and cinnamon-scented blackberry, cherry and licorice flavors, balanced against firm but well integrated tannins. Needs some time to soften. Best from 2007 through 2014.

The 2005 The Boxer Shiraz (primarily from McLaren Vale, followed by Langhorne Creek and Padthaway) exhibits a black/blue/purple color, an incredible density of fruit along with that tell-tale purity, blackberries, white flowers, melted chocolate, sweet licorice, and subtle wood. Full-bodied, beautifully textured and layered with an awesome finish, it should drink well for 4-6+ years.

Sparky and Sarah Marquis, whose Marquis-Philips partnership ended abruptly last year, have come out swinging with their new value-oriented label, Mollydooker (Aussie slang for a left-hander, which they both are). In the Boxer, they blend Shiraz from three different regions to get layers of dark fruits, spices and integrated tannins.

Ripe and smoky. A big, polished mouthful of cherry and raspberry, with peppery, spicy overtones that mingle effortlessly with the fruit as the finish sails on. Drink now through 2011.

The 2008 Shiraz The Boxer is the deepest colored of the Mollydooker wines. Fragrant scents of bacon, game, lavender, plum, and blueberry lead to a dense, layered, ripe, and intense wine that can be enjoyed now but will continue to drink well for another 5ndash;7 years.
