User Reviews for Mollydooker Shiraz Mclaren Vale Carnival of Love
Add your reviewThese wines are just so dense and big, but this one did have some nice complexity and interesting nuances. Smoky black cherry, mulberry, dried tomato and tomato leaves on the nose. The palate matches. Kind of like a strong, alcoholic tomato basil soup in a glass! - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 8/21/10
deep inky ruby color with viscous legs; intense, opulent blackberry, blueberry and tar on the nose; full bodied, lush mouthfeel and a bit hot; tastes like stereotypical big aussie shiraz...then again i'm drinking it out of a red solo cup, so who knows
Nose is intoxicating, literally... with blueberry jam on toast and vanilla. Dark and obviously hot. Full bodied and showing sweet blackberry that turns spicy but drying after the initial flavor burst that finishes very hot with a lasting flavor of sour blackberry on the finish. This wine is out of balance. I know there are people out there that really enjoy these but obviously, I'm not one of them. This wine could be poured over ice cream of drank for a quick buzz.
Tried the wine pre and post Mollydooker shake. The shaking definitely opens the wine up a lot. Yes, you can trust the seal on the screwcap. This is inky, fruity stuff. I can see this going over amazingly at a party or a bbq but this is not a wine to be drunk in a quiet setting. I will have to revisit in the proper setting.
Tasted from an enomatic system. Shiraz is hit or miss with me, but this is a deep, dark, complex nosed and delicious example of great Australian shiraz. Great notes of dark berries, oak, chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised.

Due to the intensity of our wines, people often assume that they are highly extracted, but we only ferment for 5 - 6 days. The color and flavor profiles come from the Marquis Vineyard Watering Program, to achieve the highest Marquis Fruit Weight, not from long or high extraction.
Dense, deep and complex, offering a cascade of cherry, blueberry and clotted cream flavors, with a whole range of spices on a plush texture. This has an arresting presence and finishes with pizzazz.
Produced of 100% Shiraz from a single vineyard, the 2010 Carnival of Love was aged in American oak, 97% new. Very deep purple-black in color, it is intensely scented of blueberry preserves, creme de cassis and warm black cherries with an undercurrent of baking spices, licorice, mocha, vanilla, toast and eucalypt. Very full and densely packed with warm blackberry and spice flavors on the palate, it has a solid structure of medium to firm velvety tannins and very crisp acid, giving way to a very long finish. Still quite tight and primary, it should drink best 2014 to 2023+. Dense, rich and distinctive, this is superplush and complex, yet also approachable, wrapping its black cherry, cassis, licorice and roasted meat flavors on a supple, velvety frame. Finishes long and creamy in texture. Drink now through 2020. 6,328 cases made. -HS - Wine Spectator Top 100 2012 ** Only 12 in Stock **
