hot, hot, hot! Right out of the bottle I found this very harsh with a ridiculously hot alcohol presence (did the moolydooker shake). After a few hours decanting it was much smoother and was even better the next day. A crazy barrage of dark fruit and dark chocolate with an extremely long, fiery finish. will have you under the table if you drink the whole bottle in a sitting.
Big, rich but not sweet deeply-fruited well-balanced Aussie wine. Savory, centered nose of plum and mineral. Excellent level of acid that balances deep rich ripe not sweet lip-smacking fruit, followed by almost a citrus-metallic tang and hints of other elements. Favors the front of the mouth and tip of the tongue. Still, weighty enough in the mid-palate. Finish of stone (or mineral), fruit, herbs. Body medium plus, acid medium plus, tannin medium plus. Dry. 68% shiraz, 17% merlot, 15% cab sauv. Delicious.
Took some work on the palate, moving it around to get it to open up, but it did with wonderful dense, concentrated and long deep berry flavors blended with great complexity. Very nice. Nose of sandalwood, incense, blackberry and blueberry. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 4/3/10
Fantastic shiraz from Mollydooker! 21.95 VW
After so much hype I finally tried a Mollydooker - unfortunately this one had very little taste. I was expecting big levels of alcohol, but also big levels of fruit - this just smacked of alcohol.
Complex aromas of raspberry & white chocolate it is rich and dark. Its a big texture and incredibly dense, giving you a wonderfully rounded taste and a silky smooth finish. Only gets better the deeper into the bottle till the end. After 2 bottles for tasting I ended up buying a case.
Velvety, smooth, incredibly sexy wine. Completely worth it (had to search several places to find it), and you cannot go wrong with the "Molly Dooker Shake" technique. I paired this with a Greek rubbed sirloin, tzatiki sauce, and spinach/feta salad. Amazing! Careful, it is a higher gravity wine (as we found out the next morning). drink slowly.
