Winemaker's Notes:

This is a classic Aussie Cabernet with an intense varietal nose and delicious ripe fruit. This wine is named after Sparky who put himself through winemaking college as a left-handed Maitre D’! Sourced from cooler climate vineyards, it is rich, intensely flavored, yet elegant in style.

Husband and wife team Sarah and Sparky Marquis are well known for making award winning wines for Fox Creek, Henry's Drive, Parsons Flat, Shirvington and Marquis Philips. This fun loving and inspiring couple now focuses exclusively on producing their own Mollydooker Wines. Their motto is ‘We make wines which make people go WOW, through attention to detail and commitment to excellence.’ They guarantee the intense fruit flavors and quality of their wines by rating them on their Marquis Fruit Weight™ scale, and rejecting those which they don’t consider good enough for their consumers. This dedication and devotion to their craft has earned them the title of Australian Winemakers of the Year and produced a Wine Spectator Top 10 Wine of the Year two years in a row and five wines that have scored 99-points from Robert Parker of the The Wine Advocate. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Ripe and plush mouthfeel with creamy, coffee-accented cherry and currant fruit. Big finish with nice depth and richness. Tad syrupy. Big and rich. Lingers nicely. Jammy and lush. 89 pts. 1/12/13

About This WineDark cherry red, with a deep violet hue, this is an incredibly aromatic varietal Cabernet. Showing great intensity with bright berry fruits and mashed raspberry, together with licorice spice and espresso coffee. The palate is vibrant and fresh, building with layers of fruit, toasty oak and fine Cabernet tannins. It finishes with hints of anise spice, dark cocoa and cassis fruit. This wine is named after Sparky, who earned money to put himself through winemaking college as a left-handed Maitre D. The grapes were grown on the Longbottom vineyard in Padthaway, the Mollydooker vineyards in McLaren Vale and the Joppich vineyard in Langhorne Creek. Barrel fermented and matured in 80% American and 20% French oak using 55% new and 45% one year old barrels. Alc: 15.5% Residual sugar: 2.8g/L pH: 3.65 Pairs with chicken liver paté, duck, roast lamb, mushroom risotto, veal, quail and pork. - Winery ** Only 12 in Stock **
