Fresh red cherry and red cherry skins, with smokiness, and Earth. On the palate, lean red cherry, some green herbs, and good structure. Straightforward and ready to drink now. 87 Pts

Tuscany, ItalyWine Advocate 90 points!Mocali Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful red wine gem from the much heralded 2013 Brunello vintage, scoring 90 points from Wine Advocate! "The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and savory expression of Sangiovese from one of the most beautiful corners of Tuscany. This is a dark and velvety wine that is packed tight with black fruit flavors, spice and tobacco. It shows texture in the mouth and firm grip that reveals some astringency that still needs to be absorbed and softened with cellar aging. Drink 2020-2030"-Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 90 points!Considered the king of Tuscan wines and one of the most renowned and long-lived red wines of Italy, Brunello is produced from a specific strain of Sangiovese (Sangiovese Grosso) grown in the unique microclimate surrounding the Tuscan town of Montalcino. The Mocali estate, acquired by the Ciacci family (distant relations to Ciacci Piccolomini) in the 1950s, is a setting of natural Tuscan beauty where vineyards and olive groves alternate with oak and pine forests. Situated to the southwest of Montalcino at an altitude of 300-350 meters above sea-level on the slopes facing Castiglione del Bosco, the Mocali estate is comprised of 32 hectares, 6 of which are specialized vineyards (5 hectares of Sangiovese grosso), and 4 dedicated to olive groves. Mocali Brunello di Montalcino is intense ruby red in color, full in body with firm tannins and ripe fruit. This Brunello has a complex and balanced nose, showing aromas of raspberries and licorice with notes of chocolate and spice, varying from vanilla to cinnamon to coffee. Warm and full on the palate, the flavors are beautifully pronounced with excellent length. Made of 100% Sangiovese, the wine was aged for three years in large Slovenian oak casks. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 12-15 years as it improves with cellaring. Rich, long and complex on the finish.Enjoy Mocali Brunello di Montalcino with osso bucco, lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, and cheeses.

"A pure and pretty red with plum and chocolate aromas and flavors. Lovely silky tannins that are lightly dusty. Medium to full body and a fresh finish.
