Miura Chard Talley Arroyo Grand Valley San Luis Obispo 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points Wine Enthusiast: Shows the weight, complexity and sheer deliciousness that this bottling almost always displays. Chardonnay fans will love the oaky, creamy flavors of pineapple tart, pear and lemon jam and buttered toast. The winemaker recommends pairing with black cod, and if you have a Chinese restaurant that makes a good version of this honey and soy inspired dish, it will be heaven. (Dec 2006)

I love this crisp, mineral driven chardonnay!

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. While this bottling starts out with a rich, well-ripened, oak-sweetened nose that raises high expectations of richness to come, it takes a turn to tightness and hard-edged acidity once in the mouth and fails to follow fully through on its promise. Its limited, vaguely citrusy fruit never quite opens up, and it ends with a slightly chalky finish.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Tight, with an earthy edge to the focused beam of pear, mineral and light oak flavors. Drink now through 2003.

A shade trimmer than Talleyrsquo;s Edna Valley bottling, with a flinty mineral edge to the floral apple and pear fruit. Full-bodied, ending with a complex, lingering finish. Drink now through 2012.

Bright yellow. Aromas of quince, yellow plum and fresh fig. The palate offers an array of orchard and pit fruit flavors lifted by a zesty note of bitter lemon zest. A spicy quality gains strength with air and carries through the taut, linear finish. This energetic wine has the depth to work with rich foods and the cut to accompany lighter fare.

A flinty white, with wet stone notes. Marked by green apple, pear and spice flavors, this is full-bodied and ends with a clean, snappy finish. Drink now through 2015.

Oaky, with butterscotch and smoky caramel-honey flavors standing out over the underlying pineapples, oranges and minerals. Finishes dry and crisp.
