Editorial Reviews for Mitolo Shiraz Mclaren Vale Jester
Pretty intense on the nose with a classic array of grilled meat, pepper, spice, blackberry and plum, with a touch of a coffee top note. Just a bit thick on the palate, yet showing both density and freshness. This is a touch sweet with rich blackberry flavors that are a touch jammy, backed up by notes of grilled beef, pepper, vanilla and some nice astringent apple peel notes. The finish is a bit short, though brisk and clean, with attractive floral and plummy inner mouth aromatics and a long spice/cocoa note on the finale. Quintessential Shiraz. 92 pts
Deep blackberry fruit flavors, lots of cedar, brown sugar, and syrupy sweet aromas. Zesty acidity, black pepper, chewy tannins and a thick tar and dark chocolate finish. Very nice!
For me this is an avalanche of sweet fruit, and is a little unbalanced.. I am not getting the Aussie Shiraz 'peppery bite' at the end that gives it a needed touch of complexity. Have got a half case of this after having it at Viraswamy with a buffet Asian lunch where it seemed excellent. Am going to save it for well spiced meals where I think it will drink really well.
<Aroma> black currant, oak <Taste> rich, silky, full
Enjoyed this with a cold duck salad in Dublin. Wonderful blackcurranty, peppery notes with a liquorice edge to it.
A nice spicy cab Aussie style. Good blending of flavors. Nicely put together.
Yummy Shiraz. Great Now and even better if you can keep your hands off it for a few years. Big Fruit, High Alcohol, Warning: this is serious wine for serious enjoyment. Also, comes with a screw top. Great for sneaking into movies, dinners parties, beach parties, pool parties where hosts don't anything drinkable.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Jester Shiraz has notes of kirsch, warm blackberries and baking spices with hints of vanilla, anise and tree bark. Full-bodied and with plenty of spicy fruit, it has a medium level of velvety tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drinking now, it should keep to 2016+.
Bright purple. Lively aromas of blackberry, cassis and spices. Spicy, bright and very fruity, with good energy to its dark berry flavors. This is far from a stereotypical Aussie shiraz. Finishes with smooth, gentle tannins and lingering spiciness. Offers considerable upfront appeal.
Opaque dark crimson color with deep black crimson hue Blackberry, licorice and dark plums. Displays abundant flavors of licorice, blackberry and dark fruits. Exceptional balance, refinement and generosity of flavor.
Medium-weighted aromas of stewed fruit and Bing cherry offer a perfect interplay with notes of smoke and bacon. Complex and enticing, the bouquet maintains its mixture of fruit and spicy, savoury notes at it opens up. The forward and fruity palate ha... Chuck Hayward. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2009 Mitolo Shiraz Jester 750ml
A savory style, offering toasty mineral and licorice flavors that wrap tightly around dark berry at the core, finishing lithe and focused.

The 2007 Jester Shiraz is dark ruby/purple-colored with an alluring perfume of mineral, earth notes, blueberry, black cherry, and blackberry. Smooth-textured, ripe, and intensely flavored, the wine conceals enough structure to evolve for 4-6 years. The finish is lengthy and pure. Tasting Notes - Jester Shiraz is a blend of grapes from other sections of the Mitolo McLaren Vale vineyard. Depending on the vintage, the components vary, but all have a common theme of more upfront fruit to make a more approachable wine style. The wine has fresh, vibrant, lifted and pure aromas and flavors, with attractive cassis, pepper and licorice on the nose with a hint of nutty spice. The flavors explode with blackcurrant, plums and cinnamon layering over silky tannin and superb length.
