The dense ruby/purple-colored 2001 Shiraz Jester reveals copious quantities of rich cassis and blackberry fruit, a gentle touch of wood, sweet tannin, surprising elegance and finesse, and fine flavor authority as well as density. Drink this creamy-textured Shiraz over the next 7-8 years. This new winery is a partnership of Ben Glaetzer and Frank Mitolo. According to the importer, no expense will be spared in producing these wines from this McLaren Vale Shiraz vineyard. One hundred percent new French oak is utilized. These are both imposing newcomers to Australia's high quality wine sweepstakes.
Firm, with juicy blackberry, cherry and tar flavors on a tightly wound frame, finishing with refreshing acidity. Built for the long haul. Give it time to soften. Best from 2009 through 2014.
The 2002 Shiraz The Jester is an exuberant, fun-styled effort . Aged in a combination of neutral French and American oak, it exhibits exemplary ripeness, tremendous fruit, loads of blackberry and cassis characteristics, a hint of licorice, and subtle wood and earth in the background. A fruit-forward Shiraz, it is meant to be consumed over the next 3-4 years.
Austrailians build their wines big, and this one is no exception. The Jester is intense and mouthfilling, with loads of sweet dark fruits and vanilla-laced oak.
Impressively textured for such an inexpensive Shiraz, Mitolorsquo;s 2007 Jester is a concentrated, slightly smoky, black-olive laced wine. Briny, smoky, savory notes would pair well with herbed leg of lamb. Drink nowndash;2015.
Inky violet color. Seductively perfumed scents of blackberry, mulberry, candied plum and smoky Indian spices. Ripe, fleshy and gently sweet, offering assertive dark berry and anise flavors and slow-building tannins. Repeats the anise and mulberry notes on the long, sappy, alluringly spicy, peppery finish,. This wine is already showing very good complexity.
Keeping well within the tradition of the G.A.M. style the nose displays masses of ripe plums spicy aromatic herbs and lifted freshness. The palate is rich with welcome spices and smooth but prominent tannins.
