Mitolo Gam 2007
External Reviews for Mitolo Gam
Good medium dry. Aromas of blackberry, eucalyptus and sweet oak. Juicy, bright and spicy, with enticing black fruit and sweet oak flavors lifted by a violet component. This shows good life and definition in the mouth, not to mention serious underlying spine. Finishes with sweet tannins, good energy and a note of charred oak. From a single vineyard cooled by ocean breezes.
Chocolaty rich, this has youthful, dense purple fruit bound by black, bitter chocolate tannin. Decant it for a thick-cut steak.
Flowery, blueberry, and raspberry-like notes cascade from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged Shiraz. Elegant and medium-bodied, with hints of minerals, flowers, and blue as well as red fruits, it tastes like a Shiraz made with a Pinot Noir-like sensitivity. Stylish and elegant, it should be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years.
Ruby-red. Suave, fresh and spicy on the nose, with bright red berry and cherry preserve aromas accented by subtle black pepper and baking spices. Fleshy and silky but nicely firmed by juicy acidity. The red fruit flavors take on depth with air, showing a note of blackberry on the finish. Finishes supple and long, with a light touch to the lush berry flavors.
The Shiraz lineup begins with 2006 Shiraz "Jester" which was aged for 12 months in French and American oak. Like the Cabernet, 20% dried grapes were included in the blend. Purple-colored, it offers up an expressive nose of cedar, spice box, smoke, pepper, and blueberry. Medium to full-bodied and supple-textured, the wine has a forward personality with layers of spicy fruit and some elegance. It is for drinking over the next 10 years. It is an outstanding value.
Bright ruby color. Ripe blackberry and cassis on the nose, with subtle spice and cracked pepper notes adding vibrancy. Fleshy and sweet on the palate, with fresh dark berry flavors and a tangy back end. Extremely young and hard to judge today, but boasts bright fruit and considerable energy.
The 2007 Jester Shiraz is dark ruby/purple-colored with an alluring perfume of mineral, earth notes, blueberry, black cherry, and blackberry. Smooth-textured, ripe, and intensely flavored, the wine conceals enough structure to evolve for 4ndash;6 years. The finish is lengthy and pure. I was also shown the 2002 Jester Shiraz and, I know this will be hard to believe, at age six it tastes like a small-scaled version of Guigalrsquo;s La Landonne.
