Mitchelton Shiraz Heathcote 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Mitchelton Shiraz is an opulent, richly flavoured wine melding the best fruit from shiraz vines aged between 12 – 35 years. The older 35 year old vines contribute about 50 per cent to the final wine. A celebration of the attributes which have made shiraz so well respected, the wine showcases the quality shiraz fruit cultivated in our vineyard’s climate and geology. Beautiful deep hues of crimson and garnet are complemented by intense aromas of blood plums and dark cherries. Flavours of ripe mulberries and dark chocolate yield to velvety tannins. This provides a textured persistent finish, rare in a wine which is so readily approachable.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
