Mitchelton Shiraz Heathcote 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Mitchelton’s history can be traced over the decades through the pervasive influence of Victoria’s Goulburn River and the unfolding narrative of its distinctive wines. The river surrounds the vineyard on three sides, shaping the environment and climate of Mitchelton. The result - four starkly different soil profiles running along the rippling ridges and vales of the property. Creating individual vineyards within a vineyard. With a deep blood-red body and even purple edges the Mitchelton Shiraz immediately grabs the attention. It displays intense sweet cherry and kirsch outlined with cloves and sandalwood, all complemented by dustings of coffee. A fleshy and juicy mid-palate is underscored by a long chocolatey tannin structure. An opulent, intense and versatile wine that is wonderful drinking on its own or matched with rich, hearty dishes.
