Mitchell Watervale Riesling 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

*5 Star Winery - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion* *93pts - Wine Companion, March 2014* *SALLY EASTON MW REVIEW* "Steely with faintest hint of typical kerosene, lemon pith, white pepper, white peach coming through. Good concentration. Linear and taut, as you'd hope. Tight rope walking without the height - try this." - Sally Easton MW, November 2016 The Mitchell winery of Clare Valley was established in 1975 by Jane and Andrew Mitchell. The entire range receives multiple accolades every year and the winery has been awarded a 5 Star rating from Australian critic, James Halliday. This is an intensely aromatic Riesling with plenty of citrus and spice. The palate is dry, with crisp acidity and a long, lingering fruit finish. Fresh and lively on release, it will also develop more complex, toasty characters over 5-8 years. An excellent food wine, try pairing with Asian style pork dishes and fish cakes. Drink now to 2023+. 'Straw-green colour. Riesling with an unusual degree of weight and impact. Spice, lime, grapefruit and steel. Alcohol is not entirely hidden but nor does it get in the way. Made from 50-year-old vines and, fittingly, has something of an idiosyncrasy to it.' - 93 points, Wine Companion, March 2014
