Mitchell Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

*5 Star Winery - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion* The Mitchell winery of Clare Valley was established in 1975 by Jane and Andrew Mitchell. The entire range receives multiple accolades every year and the winery has been awarded a 5 Star rating from Australian critic, James Halliday. Their Shiraz is rich and deep in aromas of bramble fruit and meat, with ripe, spicy shiraz flavours on the palate of dark chocolate with hints of liquorice. The silky mouth coating tannins give a gentle firmness and an elegant structure to the wine. Excellent for cellaring, pair with venison or duck with fruit based sauces. "Vibrant deep crimson; the bouquet is a savoury offering of roasted meat, licorice, black fruits and bramble; the medium-bodied palate is lively and fresh, with gravelly tannins, sea-salt and tangy acidity; a savoury, slightly 'Euro' accented wine." 92 points - Ben Edwards, James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2013
