Mischief and Mayhem Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc 2009
Editorial Reviews for Mischief and Mayhem Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc
This is waxy and evolved on the nose with rich aromas of honeycomb, almond brittle, candied apple and aged golden delicious fruit, gaining notes of green tea and even some pipe tobacco with air. Broad and open on the palate, this delivers some nice nuanced nutty, toffee notes wrapped around a core of soft apple fruit with hints of dried lime zest. Bright yet slightly creamy with some Orange-sicle notes coming out on the back end and faintly medicinal tones that extend over the moderately long, slightly hot finish. There’s a lot to like here, but this is a bit atypical for a Bourgogne Blanc. 88pts
Molasses and caramelized sugar, with a bit of toast. It's oddly toasted, with browned butter.
Plum and almond nose, reminded me of a dessert wine. More plum in the mouth, with umami notes that reminded me of sake. Very interesting.
Very biscuity. Tasted a lot like tarte tartin with some apricot. There's an acidity cutting through, but not sure it melds well with the other flavors. Like someone squirted lemon over a sweet dessert. Not enough to bother me too much, though, considering.
Apples and minerals on the nose. Sweet and sour green apple on the tongue with hints of sweet tea. A nice sweet and sour finish. Very interesting wine. I enjoyed this one very much!
