For Connecticut this is not a bad Merlot, but it doesn’t have the mellowness of the coastal or Long Island Merlots. I detected hints of licorice which were quite interesting.
While recently visiting this Goshen, CT Vineyard, I came across their wonderful Merlot! This has been produced from grapes sourced from Sonoma, but the winemaker did a lovely job of instilling his own personality into the wine. Wonderful silky texture, dry, but great aroma of vanilla, violet and dark current fruit. Raisins and lovely french oak in the finish. Great with chocolate!
