Candy & cherry cough drops on the nose with hints of menthol and licorice. Med-light bodied. Watery cherry menthol flavor; hints of pepper... ...easing into a slightly metallic aftertaste which rests at the back of the throat.

For south of ten bucks ($9.99) this is a surprisingly nice little wine. It's not going to blow your mind- but it's certainly not a waste, and for the buck it beats out a good chunk of its competition. Ruby in color, the nose is about what one would expect in the range; tinged with hints of currant, black pepper. Light to medium bodied in mouthfeel and weight, the wine opens up simply (and pleasantly) on the palate displaying (again) currants and pepper, those also polished with a bit of herb on the finish- which is more substantial than 80% of the wines at its price point. A fairly well-balanced effort that shows pleasantly in the finish. One could do a lot worse for less than ten bucks. I gave it an 86 on my notes, and would recommend it at that price.

Big bunch of MEH. Too hot on the frontend, too thin for what I've come to expect out of Aussie Shirazes, very one-note on the nose. Finish saves it with a touch of swirling berry on the tongue.

My favorite under $10 Syrah. Fruit, spice and a good value.

At this stage a little less full and forward than the 2005, but the gap will probably close. As with the 2005, this is exceptionally good for the price. Opaque purple/black in color, with pure aromas of dark cherry and spicy sweet blueberry with a subtle pepper component. Absolutely nothing cheap-tasting about this well-made wine. Case-worthy.

Fresh and open-textured, offering pure blackberry fruit, with white pepper and beef carpaccio hints on the refreshing finish. Drink now.

Ruby-red. Jammy blackberry and mulberry on the nose; reminds me of a zinfandel. Fresh, juicy dark berry flavors display a nice combination of poise and sweetness, with mocha and candied licorice notes adding complexity. Soft, silky and sweet on the concentrated, persistent finish. There are no apparent tannins to get in the way of the vibrant fruit. This is one serious bargain.

You just canrsquo;t beat this exceptional value Shiraz. Red raspberry, pomegranate, plum, star anise, and white pepper notes all vie for dominance. Richly textured, with a great, smooth mouthfeel mdash; this wine is always a winner, and a Premier staff pick since the 2002 vintage!

A superb value, the 2005 Shiraz Milton Park is unbelievable for this price point. It reveals copious amounts of blackberries, black cherries, tar, licorice, and a hint of oak. Beautifully textured, rich, full-bodied, and lush, it should be consumed over the next 3-4 years.

Absolutely one of the best values in Aussie Shiraz. Full-bodied and lush on the palate, with a rich, satisfying texture brimming with dark fruits, and a lively freshness.
