Miller Wine Works Pinot Noir Kendric Vineyard Marin County(2005)

The 2005 Miller wine Works, Pinot Noir, Kendric vineyard, Marin County offers scents of bright red cherries and cranberries on the nose initially, which eventually cede to darker, black cherry notes with hints of baking spice. The wine exhibits good color and a backbone of acidity, in harmony with its supple feel and overall structure. While certainly serviceable with food right now, this wine will offer significantly greater rewards with as little as another 3 – 4 months patience, not to mention beyond.

Its not the road that the rubber is meeting today, but the raspberries. With slight hints of sour candied fruit and rubber, the nose entices me to delve further. The taste reveals a well-balanced acidity and a lasting finish, although the raspberries which were so intriguing on the nose make no appearence in the mouth. Thief! What hath thee done with my raspberries?...oh well, as a great wordsmith once said, "The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief," and I could not help but smile...

I am admittedly a Pinot Novice. This wine makes me want to explore the Pinot world and delve into its nuances and subtleties! The nose is a wave of toasty raspberries and a faint remembrance of banging erasers in middle school - while the flavors are all cherries, dark cranberries and spice! The finish is gripping and pleasant, the spices really stepping forward and holding my attention. Still new to Pinot Noir, I'm excited to discover the world of Pinot - one glass of Miller Wine Works Pinot Noir at a time!

I know what all the fuss is about - but do you? Check it out . . . razzleberry, cardamom, and sour cherry. . . in pastry, coming out of the oven. That's hot. But when you taste it. . . . wow. Dark chocolate melting in your mouth rounded out with just enough tannins to make your mouth water. The cherry comes back to haunt, but does so with more friendliness than Casper. So well rounded, so delightful. Quit fussing and try it.
