Millbrook Tocai Friulano 2013
Editorial Reviews for Millbrook Tocai Friulano
Nicely aromatic with notes of tree bark, herb and a hint of minty spice accenting the pear and white peach fruit. A lot of trapped CO2 here lends this a bit of a spritz on the palate. Nice, fairly rich feel in the mouth, this has classic bitter apple, pear, almond and subtle herb flavors. The acid is bright but well integrated lending this a large yet clear impression in the mouth. Delicious pear and bitter herb stem flavors on the finish end with a spark of earthy minerality. Wow, this is really good. 91pts
Clean and crisp with bright, cleansing acidity backing up nice citrus and kiwifruit character on the nose with just a hint of lime blossom. This is a touch lean in the mouth but refreshing and has a wonderful springtime appeal. 86pts
Very aromatic, with grassy notes and bits of citrus. Very acidic but with a great, long, semi-sweet finish.
Semi-carbonated, cooked pear and oak aroma. The mouth is very gentle and has nice acidity on the finish.
citrus nose, a little minerality, very aromatic, a bit of spearmint, bright acidity, refreshing
Wow, NY wines have come a long way since I was in college. This was pleasant, light on its feet. There was a little nutty presence and a lychee note, a little white peach and Asian pear. Enough fruit on the back end to give a sense of sweetness but not sweet--and just enough white gravel to give it a little minerality.
a bit mineral for me on the front-end, but getting some citrus on the back.
Floral scent and Citrus fruits come out immediately. I can almost taste a bit of saltiness too.
Sweet and fruity. Delightful mouthful, acidic and bubbly.

Enticing aromas of pineapple and kiwi lead to full round flavors of golden raisin, leechy nut, citrus and pear with a nice acidity on the finish. - Winery
Millbrook Winery is located NY's beautiful Hudson Valley where wine has been cultivated and produced since colonial times. The Dyson family started Millbrook in the early 1980's planting cool-climate varietal like this one that are well suited the region. Tocai Fruliano is a very lively, expressive white that orginates in the the cool, mountainous regions of Northern Italy. Millbrook's estate grown Tocai is fresh and floral with hints jasmine, pear, orange peel and lemon. Tangy and refeshing, it's a perfect match for seafood or just on it's own.
This is an off-dry white wine from the Hudson Valley region of New York. The grape has its origins in northern Italy and found its way to New York State decades ago. Full of yellow fruits and white pepper on the palate, the wine is slightly sweet and a great match for spicy foods.

Located an hour and a half north of New York City and the same distance south from Albany, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery has established itself as one of the best wineries in New York's Hudson River Region.Winemaker John Graziano is the only winemaker Millbrook has ever had and he’s been making some of the region's most acclaimed wines since the winery's first releases in 1985. Currently, 30 of the estate's 130 acres are under vine: 13 acres of Chardonnay, 5 acres of Pinot Noir, 7 acres of Cabernet Franc and 5 acres of Tocai Friulano. In addition to estate offerings, Millbrook produces and bottles Chenin Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Zinfandel and Gewurztraminer from grapes grown in owners John and Kathe Dyson's Central Coast California vineyard. The Dyson's also own a small vineyard in Tuscany and purchased Sonoma's Williams Selyem Winery in 1998. Tocai Friulano, not to be confused with Tokay from Alsace or Tokaji from Hungary, is a grape native to the Friuli region in north eastern Italy. Graziano's 2005 bottling is a light lemon yellow in the glass with floral, melony aromas and hints of minerals and kiwi fruit. Clean, medium bodied and well balanced, this lovely white offfers just-ripe honeydew melon and kiwi flavors with subtle acidity. Serve it with charcuterie or antipasto.
