Millbrook Cabernet Franc 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Rather subdued on the nose, this smells more of creamy red and black fruits with an overlay of smoky oak than I would have expected. Rather plush on entry, this has a finely polished nature with nice plump plum and black currant flavors accented by base notes of wood spice and a faint hint of tomato. The finish is a bit earthy with a fair bit of wood tannin and some chary notes. A pleasant wine, attractive even, but not what I expect from Cab Franc. 85pts

aromas dominate with a funky, earthy, mushroomy attributes, more fruit driven on the palate with earth undertones, under the soil depth, all around intriguing and elegant.

Made in the Hudson River Valley from mostly Cabernet Franc, with a little Merlot added for softness and balance. With delicious red and black berry flavors, intriguing spice aromas, and approachable tannins, this is great with anything grilled or roasted - such as beef, lamb, or even something a little more gamey.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of red berry fruits and black raspberry accentuate rich flavors of plum and red berries with soft tannins and a lush ripe finish.
