Editorial Reviews for Milbrandt Vineyards The Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Wahluke Slope Washington
A hint of mint chocolate on the nose of this wine alongside the black cherry fruit. In the mouth it's sharp and tart with red fruit flavors, mostly cherry alongside the black fruit and chocolate notes as well. Due to the cooler climate, this wine gets a bit of an herbal note to it as well, but the fruit certainly is dominant here.
Fairly big on the nose showing assertive oak base notes, a little nutty and with a lot of nutella accents with some nice herbal framed and almost bell pepper inflected black currant fruits. Broad and a bit fleshy in the mouth but nicely balanced with an easy going personality. This shows some tea, thyme, and chocolate nuance early on the palate followed by black cherry and black currant fruit. the tannins are firm but well managed leading into a moderately long finish that shows a creamy edge. Nicely varietal and easy to drink. 88pts

Full-bodied and complex. Aromas of black cherry, cassisand a hint of anise give way to velvety tannins and a generous, fruit-driven finish.
Delicious, delicious, delicious. Did I mention that the Milbrandt Vineyards 2009 The Estates Cab is delicious? Because it is. A striking dark red in color, this wine is to die for. Spicy, but not especially so, this medium-bodied wine is bursting with dried fruits and just a hint of smokiness and is well-balanced by the delicious tannins. Did I mention it was good?
Black cherry fruit with a bit of black olive and a hint of smoke lead quickly into an oaky finish with plenty of roasted coffee and tobacco flavors. A lot of barrel, but the fruit is simple, not distinctively varietal.
For our 2006 Estates Cabernet, winemaker Gordy Hill selected lots from some of his favorite blocks at our Northridge and Clifton Hill vineyards. He also blended back small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec for color, depth, plumpness and complexity. The wine is dark garnet and filled with blackberries, cassis, vanilla, maple and smoke. The flavors are intense and the tannins are soft and polished. With its deep fruit and generous mouth-feel, this is textbook Wahluke Slope Cabernet. Composition Cabernet Sauvignon (79%), Petit Verdot (14%) Malbec (7%)
