Milbrandt Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Traditions 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

For our 2006 Estates Cabernet, winemaker Gordy Hill selected lots from some of his favorite blocks at our Northridge and Clifton Hill vineyards. He also blended back small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec for color, depth, plumpness and complexity.

The wine is dark garnet and filled with blackberries, cassis, vanilla, maple and smoke. The flavors are intense and the tannins are soft and polished. With its deep fruit and generous mouth-feel, this is textbook Wahluke Slope Cabernet.

Composition Cabernet Sauvignon (79%), Petit Verdot (14%) Malbec (7%)

We came here as young children and have always called it home. When we planted our first vines in 1997 we were entering uncharted territory. Today, we farm 13 distinct estate vineyard sites totaling nearly 1600 acres. Our grapes are purchased by some of the most prestigious wineries in the state. Our own winery, launched in 2005, produces highly-individualistic wines from our estate and neighboring vineyards. Jim McFerran, one of the foremost viticulturists in Washington, joined us back in 1997 to help with the intricacies of planting. We were very careful about matching the right variety to the right site. Our goal was to be the best growers in the state. From the start, demand for our grapes was immediate and overwhelming. As farmers, there is nothing more satisfying than controlling the quality and style of your product from start to finish. In June of 2007, under the direction of veteran winemaker Gordon Hill, we launched the Milbrandt Vineyards label. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
