Miguel Torres S.A. Gran Coronas Reserva 2000

Winemaker's Notes:

The Torres family has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, south-west of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. It is this tradition combined with innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality that has put Torres firmly on the world map. In 2006 Torres were awarded European Winery of the Year in Wine Enthusiast's Annual Wine Star Awards. Torres remains independent and family owned, run by fourth and fifth generation members of the Torres family. The Mas La Plana is a deep dense cherry colour, with a touch of mahogany. It has a wonderfully intense bouquet typical of this vineyard: hints of cranberries, cherries and truffles, with an incense-like quality developed during ageing in wood. It has a full, elegant and pronounced finish, befitting a wine of this quality.

Don Miguel Torres:
The Torres family surname has been linked with wine for more than three centuries, during which time our ancestors have worked vineyards in Penedès, a land with a millenarian tradition of wine. Our family has been dedicated to working the land, passing on their commitment from generation to generation.
