What to Expect

Barbera is one of the classic Grapes of Italy's Piedmont region, though it is popular throughout much of Northwest Italy and has gained a following in California. Searing acidity has been a trait of Barbera though modern viticultural techniques and warmer regions have tamed the acidity, resulting in medium-bodied wines with bright, red fruit tones that feature hints of violets, earth and plum with just a whisper of tannin.

Winemakers Notes

crisp red fruit, warm earth and pepper on the nose. This Barbera has a rich strong mouth feel. The Barbera opens up with rich dried cherry and ripe plums and gives way to pomegranate and spice. This wine will pair well with anything tomato including a big marinara sauce or bruschetta or pizza.

The only way I can describe this wine is SEXY. seductive crushed red fruits on the nose. the mouthfeel is lush like zindandel/petite sirah blend. dark plum and blackberry core with a creamy long finish. as the winemaker describes, there is a tart raw pomegranate zest to mid-palate. this went terrific with a thin crust supreme pizza. great value at around $20 because you can tell that it's handcrafted and expertly made.
