What to Expect

Barbera is one of the classic Grapes of Italy's Piedmont region, though it is popular throughout much of Northwest Italy and has gained a following in California. Searing acidity has been a trait of Barbera though modern viticultural techniques and warmer regions have tamed the acidity, resulting in medium-bodied wines with bright, red fruit tones that feature hints of violets, earth and plum with just a whisper of tannin.

Winemakers Notes

The Midlife Crisis Barbera has a complex nose featuring dried cherries and very ripe plum and with underlying smoky tobacco. fruit flavors linger on the mid palate and smoke and pomegranate notes last across the finish. The wine has great ruby color. It is a big wine with deceptively soft tannins. The higher acidity pairs well with smoked meats like prosciutto and bacon and smoked roasts.
