Editorial Reviews for Michele Chiarlo Nebbiolo Barolo Cerequio
Starts off with a reticent nose that slowly reveals black spices and cocoa bean with a direct menthol note adding rosehips with time in the glass. The lovely and powerful nose leads to a medium bodies wine in the mouth with some wood tannin up front and very floral inner mouth perfume, nicely integrated and very friendly in the mouth, pretty much at peak, I'ld opt to drink these over the short term. 2007-2015

This was given to my wife and I as a gift. After our second son was born, this was the only bottle of wine in the house and having gone 9 months without any, she wanted a glass. Though according to snooth, we opened this a year early, it was fantastic. Great color, very smooth with a bold nose. It had a 'smoky' finish which was pleasant. I am not a coin-o-saur so this review may not help many, but for me, it was fantastic, and worth the wait.
On the nose, I found cherry fruit with oak influences of sawdust, cinnamon with an odd note of raw beef. On the palate, it was soft and juicy with sweet red fruits, coffee notes and spice. The finish was staying with red fruit, cinnamon spice, inner floral notes and cheek-puckering tannin.
The 1996 Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio showed red cherries, animal musk and holiday spices on the nose with a rich rustic feel. On the palate, I found sweet juicy raspberry fruit with cinnamon and herbal tea. The finish turned to sour red candies with a smooth close. This bottle is ready to drink and, although it shows a very modern performance on the palate, I feel the nose is its saving grace. (91 Points)

Ripe cherry and plum flavors, with hints of raisin and licorice, highlight this Barolo. At its core is sweet fruit, with refined tannins and freshness for support. Fine balance and harmony make this approachable now with decanting. Best from 2012 through 2024. -BS
Tortoniano shows very exciting results thanks to the wine's evident softness and richness. Aromas recall sweet Christmas spice, black cherry, licorice and rose petal but the wine really picks up speed in the mouth where you will experience a blast of chocolate and espresso. Drink 2015-2020. - M.L. ** SOLD OUT **
Shows superb clarity and definition with lovely notes of dark raspberries black cherries earthiness menthol spices and toasted oak. This is a wine that is all about precision and granularity in its detail. The tannins build on the finish. There is lovely richness underneath that will emerge gracefully over time.
deepish purple-red, orange rim.Nose: Very ripe red cherry, some ?heat? from the alcohol here, but there are still Nebbiolo characters coming through with some tar aromas. Oak is not over-dominant and with most of these notes I?ve hardly talked about o
Winemaker's Notes:
In the mouth it is ample and rich yet delicate, with seductive ripe fruit and spice notes and an underlying tannic power of great subtlety, ending in a finish of exceptional length and refinement.
