Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Asili(1997)

This is one of the most renowned crus in the Barbaresco zone. The excellent exposure, along with a great terroir whose soil is rich in microelements, favours the production of a wine that, for its refinement and aristocratic elegance, stands out from the panorama of Barbaresco wines.

Characteristics of the cru: complex bouquet, aristocratic and delicate, with clear notes of ribes, blueberries, liquorice and spices. On the palate it is ample, silky and long-lasting

Life cycle: it reaches its peak after 3-4 years and maintains it for up to 9-10 years.

An incredible value, if you can find it anywhere near this price. Loads of concentrated fruit that includes black cherry and blackberry, along with smoky and mineral notes that emerge on the generous finish. Awfully good now, and will be even better over the next ten years.

Deep healthy crimson. Burly, autumnal though suppressed nose of lead mulch. Not that generous on the palate. Slightly lean and forward.
