Strong wood spice on the nose, as well as espresso, dark chocolate and black cherry. On the palate, it's tart and acidic. Flavors of blackberry, plum and pomegranate, all fresh. Hints of flowers. Very youthful, needs more time to relax. 3/10/12
Nice floral notes. Earthy, roasty blue and purple fruit on the nose. Crisp, tart and berry-accented with good fruit and medium body. Easy drinking, soft red berry fruit. Clean and nice. Sour, tart finish. 88 pts. 12/15/12

I was looking for Bonny Doon's Muscat, but the store didn't have it and recommended this. For a sweet wine, it is very good. It has a nice honey peach flavor. I prefer moderately sweet wines-this is too sweet.

Chiarlo's 2006 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme is a delicious, fragrant Barbera. Made in a medium-bodied style, it offers notable harmony in its ripe red fruit, minerals and spices. Silky, refined tannins round out this terrific effort, which is a steal for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
