The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in Northwest Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of this country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making them the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta red wines is the great intensity of colour while the white wines, Torrontes in particular, are fresh and appealing. Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation. Vintage: Vintage: 2009 Grapes: 100% Merlot Area: Michel Torino's own vineyards at an altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level, in the Cafayate Valley, in the Province of Salta, Northwest Argentina. Harvest: Hand picked in early March at 240 Brix. Fermentation: At 27oC with selected yeasts. The wine underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Ageing: 6 months in new French oak barriques. Serve: At room temperature with duck, goose, pork dishes, pasta in tomato sauces and mild cheese. Taste: Medium red with purple tinges. Intense blackberry, cassis and dried fruit aromas. Velvety texture combined with a firm structure and a long ripe finish.

The 2011 Don David Reserve Torrontes has a delightful passion fruit, coconut and lychee-scented nose that is well-defined and floral. The palate is light and perhaps a little simple and pithy on the entry, although it demonstrates good weight in the mouth, with a hint of white pepper leaving a slight tingle on the finish. Drink now.

Pale straw. Peachy fruit lifted by gingery brown spice. At once sweet and juicy, with lovely savory intensity and impressive palate presence to the chewy citrus and spice flavors. Finishes quite dry, persistent and firm-edged.
