Michel Torino. Don David. Torrontes Late Harvest. Cafayate Valley Witte Wijn Torrontes Cafayate Valley Argentinië Cafayate Valley 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

This Torrontes comes from the Bodega El Esteco winery in the Salta province of Argentina. The winery was created in 1892 under the name Michel Torino Bros La Rosa Wineries. In 1994, it was sold to Félix Lávaque, a winemaker who in turn sold it to a Swiss group that gave the company the image it has today: a premium winemaker. The Torrontes has a dry, medium body with no tannin and a clean acidity. This wine has a moutwatering palate of peach flavours with fresh and floral notes carried through. The finish is bitter lemon pith finish typical of Torrontes with balanced acidity. A beautiful refreshing wine.

Beautiful Torrontes from Salta. One of the two best, if you can't find a bottle of Susana Balbo's Torr. Elderflower, citrus peels and well, generally just an unforgettable white wine. One of the interesting things about this one is that a small percentage of softly oaked Sauvignon Blanc (think California Fume Blanc) is added in, to heighten the body and add a soft, grassy smoke component.
