Michel Torino Coleccion Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

A clean hay yellow colour with green hues. Pure, clear and impacting! Excellent fresh acidity, almost Marlborough, NZ in style with fresh peapods and Grapefruit notes becoming more pronounced in the mouth with an intense fresh sensation and a lengthy finish. The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in Northwest Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of this country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making them the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta red wines is the great intensity of colour while the white wines, Torrontes in particular, are fresh and appealing. Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation. Vintage: Vintage: 2010 Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc Winemaking: Coleccion range of wines express a marked fruit style, showing a pure varietal character with traces of the unique terrior. In the vineyards we work to get a balanced ripening and concentrated berries. Harvest is manual. Pneumatic pressing to get a noble juice that is moved at cold temperatures to keep freshness. Fermentation in steel stainless vat at 13 degrees that allows us to obtain fresh wines with balanced acidity. Alcohol 13.% Colour: Hay yellow, green reflex. Pure, clear and impacting Serve: Chilled as an aperitif or to accompany light seafood dishes and salads. Aroma/Taste: Fresh peapods, very good typicity, almost Marlborough style. Grapefruit notes become more pronounced in the mouth with an intense fresh sensation.

They were attracted by the benign climate, the beauty of the landscape and Cafayate Valley unique Terroir, good for quality grapes production. The winery took it's name from the legend of El Esteco City. According to this tale, Esteco was an opulent city in the north of Argentina. Its buildings, covered with silver shone and its people dressed in gold. In 1692 an earthquake buried the city and his its treasures. In the late 1970's the company bought the El Esteco estate and recovered the hidden treasure. We discovered the riches came from the soil. In honour to the legend, El Esteco produces the best grapes used for Michel Torino top export wines. Read less
