ROBERT PARKER - 89 Points The bodega is situated in the foothills of the Andes in the Cafayate region around Salta in Northwest Argentina in one of the most scenic regions of this country. The vineyards are planted at 1,700 metres making them the highest commercial sites in the world. Cool climate plays a key part with great variations between night and day time temperatures, slowing down the ripening cycle and ensuring the development of good varietal character. The hallmark of Salta red wines is the great intensity of colour. Michel Torino is well recognised on the international market and is renowned for its excellent wine quality, elegant label design and premium presentation. Grapes : 100% Estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon Region : Argentina / Salta / Cafayate Maker : Alejandro Pepa Taste : Deep ruby colour and a complex bouquet of blackberries, chocolate, mint and toasty oak. The flavour is rich and concentrated with a long, velvety finish. Serve : At room temperature with fillet steak in a black pepper sauce, grilled or roast venison, mushrooms and mature cheese. Also delicious with dark chocolate. ABV : 14% Suitable for Vegetarians
Michel Torino's vineyards in Salta, Cafayate, are among the highest in the world; 1,700m above sea level, basking in splendid isolation surrounded by desert and breathtaking mountain scenery. The vines get 350 days of sunshine, but at this altitude there is a consistent breeze to cool things down. This sunny but cool climate, combined with the rocky and sandy soil is an ideal environment for growing grapes. From the 2006 vintage, their vineyards have been certified as totally organic, but Michel Torino chooses only to bottle four wines as organic. Exceptional wines from a unique part of the world.
